For an annual donation of £10 (£15 double) special privileges are offered, including 25% off the price of a ticket to each of the Society's shows. Your support would be much appreciated in helping to meet the ever rising costs of our productions. For details please contact us.

Charity Support

Southampton Operatic Society has long supported local and national charities as part of its commitment to being involved in its local community and trying to 'put something back'. We believe strongly in supporting good causes and over the years have helped many charities including St. John Ambulance, Leukaemia Busters, the Rotary Club, the Lions Club, Wessex Cancer Trust, Wessex Heartbeat and, most particularly, Save the Children for whom we have helped raise over £30,000 since the year 2000. We support through offering cabaret entertainment at fund-raising events, allowing and encouraging retiring bucket collections at some of our productions and having discounted ticket schemes as well as helping to raise awareness and funds by singing and entertaining at charity public collections. Being a registered charity ourselves we feel it is an important part of our remit to support other worthy causes.

Sponsor Us

We have sponsorship and programme advertising space available at very competitive prices. For a copy of our sponsorship proposal please e-mail committee@sotonopera.org.

Why sponsor Southampton Operatic Society (SOS)?

  • SOS is one of the leading amateur theatrical companies in the South, having achieved nominations and awards at all levels from International Gilbert & Sullivan Festivals through to the National Operatic and Dramatic Association and, more locally, the Southern Daily Echo annual ‘Curtain Call’ Awards.
  • SOS incorporates a Junior Section for young performers (recently re-branded ‘Debut Youth Theatre’). Originally set up to provide a theatrical evening class for children to supplement the school curriculum, DYT now provides a vibrant and exciting way for young people to spend their free time, teaches them the benefits of working together and has nurtured some exceptional talents, some of whom have gone on to become well known international professional performers. DYT produces 2 shows every year.
  • In the past we have been fortunate to have received the valued support of such leading businesses as Associated British Ports, British American Tobacco, KJC Mobile Phones, Ntl, Exxon, Chemring Group Plc, Bank of Scotland, Lloyds TSB Commercial, Deloitte & Touche, Blake Lapthorn Linnell, The Mall Marlands and, most recently, Rok Development. We have a proven track record in the local business community.
  • Our proposal provides a different vehicle for your business not only to market itself to ABC1 local and regional residents, but to demonstrate its commitment to the wider community in which it operates.
  • Our Senior Section’s shows are performed at The Nuffield Theatre, one of Southampton’s leading professional performance venues, holding about 380 people per performance in comfortable and intimate surroundings with ample opportunities for corporate hospitality.
