The story of a topsy-turvy 'Breach of Promise' case is told in a totally sung narrative and in true Gilbert and Sullivan fashion has some delightful and amusing touches.

Notes:

'Trial by Jury' has been enjoyed by millions of theatre goers since its first production in 1875. Although 'Thespis' was, in fact, the first Gilbert and Sullivan opera, 'Trial by Jury' was the first of the Savoy Operas. Produced under the management of Richard D'Oyly Carte it was performed as a curtain raiser to 'La Perichole' by Offenbach, running initially for 300 performances.
